What we do

Regulatory Consultants provides contract investigative services primarily to nuclear utilities. However, we have also provided consultation to clients within the trucking, funeral, and pharmaceutical industries.

Regulatory Consultants will help you meet the NRC expectation that responses to allegations be thorough, objective and of sufficient scope and depth.

Regulatory Consultants has recently conducted investigations involving:

    • Alleged improper revocation of welder certifications
    • Alleged improper disposition of corrective action reports
    • Alleged unauthorized removal of company documents
    • Alleged intentional misalignment of an RCW valve
    • Chilling effect as the result of an employee termination

How we do it

After an initial telephone consultation with the responsible licensee contact, a purpose statement is developed which is used as a basis for the inquiry.

The investigation then moves on-site where an investigative plan is formulated followed by one-on-one interviews carried out in a professional, non-confrontational manner.

As a general rule, the licensee contact is briefed at the beginning and end of each work day. Circumstances may preclude the briefings, but such exceptions only occur with the consent of the licensee or upon advice of corporate counsel.

What we produce

The inquiry is concluded when the licensee agrees that the scope and depth of the investigation supports the preliminary findings. Appropriate licensee officials are briefed concerning the findings and are advised of any corollary issues which were not pursued during the inquiry, but which may require further attention.

Regulatory Consultants submits a written report which sets out:

    • Purpose of the investigation
    • Executive summary
    • Detailed narrative
    • List of exhibits

Each factual statement in the narrative is based upon information provided by a witness or which has been obtained from documentation.

Each witness interview is reduced to writing in a report of interview, and attached to the report as an exhibit. Each document cited in the report is also attached as an exhibit.
